Chettikulangara Bhagavathy temple is located in a small village near Mavelikkara of the Alleppey district in Kerala.

About the Chettikulangara Bhagavathy temple

Chettikulangara Sree Bhagavathy Temple is one of the well known temples of South India and is located in Mavelikkara in the district of Alappuzha of the state of Kerala. Here the most important aspect is that the Goddess appears as Saraswathy in the mornings, Lakshmi in the afternoon and as Durga / Bhadrakali in the evenings.
Chettikulangara Temple is about 1200 years old and is situated on the state highway No 6 that is kayankulam - Thiruvella highway. The temple has about 13 karas or the territories and is placed at the center of the oldest of Karas, namely, Erezha South, Erezha North, Kaitha South and Kaitha North. The other karas are Kannamangalam South, Kannamangalam North, Pela, Kadavoor, Anjilipra, Mattam North, Mattam South, Menampally and Nadakkavu and all these karas surround the Chettikulangara Temple.

Devotees can do a lot of offerings and these mentioned here are some of the offerings done here by devotees at this temple, If you are interested you can do Thottam pattu, Sarpam pattu, Kuruthi, KalabhaAbhisheka, KumkumAbhisheka, Pushparchana, BhagavathiSeva, Payasam, Kadumpayasam, Thriimadura Nivedya, Nirmala & Vilakku, Archana, Udayada Charthika. You can contact the temple authorities and arrange for the offerings or you can come to the temple and then arrange them.

Kuruthy Pooja

Kuruthi is one of the well known and famous pooja of the temple and is performed in the night.after the Athazha Poojaon the day of the star Bharani every On day of kuruthi there will be Kalamezhuthu and Pattu as well. The image of Bhadrakaali is drawn in the kalamezhuthu. The goddess is brought out from the Sreekovil for the kuruthi Ritual. Kuruthi is a special offering at the temple and many of the devotees come to take part in this ritual. It is believed that every wish or the prayer of the devotees will be fulfilled by taking part in the Kuruthi Ritual

How to Reach XChettikulangara Bhagavathy Temple

You will have to Reach either Kochi International airport at Nedumbassery which is 120 kilometers away from the temple. Likewise Thiruvananthapuram International airport is also located at about 120 kilometers away from the temple.
From Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram you can travel either by train or by road to Mavelikkara Railway station which is just 5 kilometers from the temple.The temple is located at about 8 kilometers away from the NH47 in the Kayankulam-mavelikkara route.
Private and state transport buses ply regularly in the Mavelikkara - Kayankulam route even late in the nights.
