The College of Horticulture was established in 1972 under the Kerala Agricultural University. It is one of the three agricultural colleges located centrally in Kerala. The college is situated at the II and III academic blocks of Kerala Agricultural University.
The under graduate and post graduate courses offered in College of Horticulture are:
1) Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B.Sc Agriculture)
2) Master of Science in Agriculture (M.Sc. Agriculture)
3) Master of Science in Horticulture (M.Sc. Horticulture)
4) Master of Science in Agricultural Statistics (M.Sc. Agricultural Statistics)
5) Master of Home Science (Food Science and Nutrition (M.Sc. FS&N)
6) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The M.Sc. Agriculture is offered in the following disciplines: Agronomy, Plant breeding and genetics, Soil science and agricultural chemistry, Agricultural entomology, Plant biotechnology, Plant pathology, Agricultural extension, Agricultural extension, Agricultural economics, and Agricultural meterology.
The M.Sc. Horticulture is offered in the following disciplines: Olericulture, Pomology and floriculture, Plantation crops and spices, Processing technology.
The Ph.D is offered in following disciplines: Agronomy, Agricultural entomology, Plant pathology, Agricultural extension, Plant breeding and genetics, Soil science and agricultural chemistry, Olericulture, Pomology and floriculture, Plantation crops and spices, Processing technology, Home science (Food science and nutrition).
The facilities available in the college includes hostel facilities, reading room with books and magazines, computer lab, gymnasium, indoor sports facilities etc.
The College of Horticulture is located at Kerala Agricultural University campus a Vellanikkara (Thrissur). The college is about 13 Kms from Thrissur railway station and 60 Kms from Cochin International airport.
