Now, the Kalari kovilakam, where Royalty mixed with healing takes place, has been renovated and restored into an unique place with wellness in everything. You have the healing with the royal living here at Kalari Kovilakam. At Kalari Kovilakam, the treatments are personal and customized keeping only the patient in mind, even the food you are served is meant and made just for you by taking your needs and the constitution into account. The herbal drinks and preparations differ from person to person.

No Recreations and other facilities at Kalari Kovilakam to disturb you from the treatments and meditation. There are no recreations available like shopping expeditions, gamerooms, televisions etc. The evenings you can hear and participate in the chants and the hymns and post dinner gatherings of the guests and the staff.

Ayurveda in the Kalari Kovilakam are a combination of massages, herbal treatments, medicines, diet and purifying baths etc . There are 10 Therapy and massage rooms which offer a complete range of treatments. Expert maaseuses and therapists work with you head to toe massaging you so nicely that you feel reborn into the world. The healing continues with Yoga and meditation centres and then at the dining table.

Treatments available at Kalari Kovilakam

At the Kalari Kovilakam, Body types / Dosha are recognized first and treatments are undertaken for anti Ageing treatments, anti stress treatments, beauty treatments, Slimming treatments and Pancha Karma treatments. There are other general treatments like General Uzhichil, Kalari Uzhichil, Dhathu Pushti Uzhichil, Padabhyarngam, Udvarthanam, Pizhichil, Dasamoola Ksheera dhara, Kayasekam, Sirovasthi njavarakizhi, Podi kizhi, Dhanya Kizhi, Naranga Kizhi, Elakizhi are done.

Uzhichi and Pizhi are two of the well known Ayurveda treatments which are generally done as the basic / preparatory treatments for other specialized treatments. Padabhyarngam is a type of massage done with the foot and Udvarthanam is done mainly for slimming purposes witth a type of powder. The powder is said to burn the fat and is massaged in the upward strokes to drain out the lymphs.

Dasamoola Ksheeradhara is one of the well known and special treatments and the process isto mke the body perspire by means of pouring warm medicated milk in a special vessel from a certain height in a rhythmic manner. The milk is then rubbed into the ody in 7 different postures for a period of 7 - 21 days. This strengthens the tissues, nourishes the skin and promotes health and longevity.

The grandmother's saying that you are what you eat just holds true here. Ayurvedic diets stree moderation in verything you eat and do not prohibit anything unless it is against your treatment. The food taken should be according to your body type and constitution.
Your food gets ready keeping your treatments in mind and it arrives in a plantain leaf arranged on a brass plate. Thre are small bowls arranged on the leaf, fibre rich red rice, wheat chappathis, dosas will be served with low spiced side dishes and salads.
