The University of Cochin was established in 1971 for development of higher studies in Kerala. Later in February 1986 the University of Cochin was reorganized as Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT). CUSAT has now academic collaborations and exchange programmes with many famous institutions in countries like USA, Europe, Japan, Russia etc.
The nine faculties which comprises of the academic structure of CUSAT are Engineering, Environmental Studies, Humanities, Law, Marine Sciences, Medical Sciences and Technology, Science and Social Sciences and Technology. The other research centers with the collaboration of Government includes Interdisciplinary Studies, Microprocessor Research, National Manpower Information, Rural Development & Appropriate Technology, Ocean Electronics Science in Society, Information Resource Management, Neuro Science, Creative Writing, Comparative Literature, Population Studies, Aquatic Animal Health, Monsoon Studies, Economic Policy and Analysis & Adult and Extension education.
The CUSAT has three campuses, the main campus is at Thrikkakara, and the other two at Kochi and Pulinkunnu.

| Posted By: smruthi Posted Date: 17 Sep 2010 Points: 0 | There is a Centre for Adult Continuing Education and Extension(CACEE) of Cochin University of Science and Technology .It uses the new methodologies in IT to assist traditional teaching methods-tutorials, seminars, lectures, labwork etc.
