M T Vasudevan Nair M T Vasudevan Nair is a famous novelist as well as a good short story writer from Kerala. He had also shown his caliber in the field of screen play writing and film direction and has contributed some extraordinary Malayalam films like Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Pazhassiraja etc. M T Vasudevan Nair or Madathil Thekkeppattu Vasudevan Nair was born in 9th August 1933 in a place known as Kudallur near Ponnani which belongs to the Palakkad district of Kerala. He was also the winner of highest literary award of India namely Jnanpith. This award was presented for him for his excellent work in ‘Randamoozham’ or second turn. He was also a winner of Padmabhushan, the 3rd highest civilian award of India in 2005.
Professional and Literary Career of M T Vasudevan Nair M T Vasudevan Nair’s career starts as a teacher after his education. He was also a good social worker. He worked hard for the upliftment of his village and lead them from the front. After a period of time, he was served as an editor in Mathrubhumi daily and Mathrubhumi periodical. This was the starting of his literary career. He also occupied some esteemed posts like the presidentship of Kerala Sahithya Academy and Tunchan Memorial Trust. He was a great contributer to both these institutions. During these days, he used to stay in a place known as Punnayurkulam in Thrissur district. Most of his screen plays and stories reveal the rural life of the people of Kerala and discussed about their emotions, pain and anguish in the society. Some of his works also led to some social revolutions in Northern Kerala. He was also famous as a film maker mainly screen plat writer as well as a film director. Some of his films like Nirmalyam, Bandhanam, Kadavu, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Pazhassiraja etc have got many national awards and state awards.
