Shaji N Karun Shaji Neelakantan Karunakaran, popularly known as Shaji N Karun is a famous film director and cinematographer from God’s Own Country. He was born in Kollam in 1st January 1952 as a son of N karunakaran and Chandramathi. He is known for his versatility in his films. His film named Piravi was selected for many International Awards like Caméra d'Or in Cannes Film Festival. The same film got Chaplin Award in the year 1989. His film named Kuttisrank was selected as the best film for the National Award in the year 2009. Vanaprastham, Swaham, Piravi etc are some of his best films.
Shaji N Karun’s Contribution to Indian Cinema Shaji N Karun started his film career in the Malayalam film named Piravi in 1988. For the same film he has got many awards including Cann filmfare award and Chaplin award in the same year. He directed his second film named Swaham in the 1994 and got many international attentions. Then he worked with Superstar Mohanlal in the film Vanaprastham. Mohanlal did the role of a Kathakali artist in the film and got the National Award for the Best Actor in the same year. Meanwhile he directed one Hindi film Nishad in 2002. He directed his latest film named Kuttisrank starring Padmashri Mammootty. The film was selected as the Best Film for the National Award for the year 2009. along with these superhit films he also directed some short films. Some of his famous short films are Wild Life of Kerala, Kerala Carnival , Kannikal, Sham's Vision, Bhavam, G. Aravindan , Big Man & Small World etc.
