Mohanlal- The Born Actor Mohanlal is one of the great actors ever the world cinema has witnessed and fortunately, he is from the God’s Own Country, The Kerala. He is exclusively known for his versatility, natural styles and expressions and for his unmatching acting charms. Mohanlal Viswanathan Nair, popularly known as Mohanlal was born in 21 May 1960 in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala in a place known as Elanthur. He was born as the second son of layer Viswanathan Nair and Snthakumari Ammal. He was an excellent actor from the childhood itself and received many awards from his school and College. His education was from Model School, Thiruvananthapuram and got a bachelor’s from Mahathma Gandhi College in Thiruvananthapuram.
The contributions he has given to the Malayalam Cinema and Indian Cinema is some thing so precious. He is called as ‘Lalettan’ from his fans and association. He is also famous as a Producer, Distributor, Playback Singer, Businessman and Entrepreneur etc. Mohanlal has also entered to the Indian army with his honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the Territorial Army. He is the only actor in India, who is awarded for this honorary post. He is an internationally acclaimed Indian actor who got 4 National awards, 2 Best actor Award, 1 Special Jury award and 6 Best Actor Awards in Kerala. He was also a Goodwill Ambassador of Anti Aids Campaign of Kerala State Aids Control Society, Kerala athletics, Kerala Handloom Industry and Common wealth Inclusive Growth Foundation.
Mohanlal’s Contribution to Indian Cinema The great actor entered in to the platform of Indian film in 1978 in a Malayalam Cinema known as ‘Thiranottam’. In the initial stages of his film industry, he was acted for the antagonist roles which started from his film ‘Manjil Virinja Pookkal’ released in 1980. And during the next five years, he performed well and has been recognized by the people. Then it was the golden period of this extraordinary actor from 1986 to 1995 starting from the film ‘T P Balagopalan M A’ directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. The great actor has got stardom as Superstar Mohanlan from his film named ‘Rajavinte Makan’ for which he was acted as an underworld don. After this film, he has acted some amazing roles in the fils named Thalavattom, Sanmanssullavarkku samadhanam, Panchagni, Gandhinagar 2nd Street etc.
From 1990 onwards, it was the emergence of a new acting wonder in the history of Indian Cinema in the name of Padmashri Mohanlan. Besides his excellent contribution to Malayalam Cinema, he has entered to the Tamil film Industry with the famous director Mani Ratnam in a film known as ‘Iruvar’. In this film he was acted with the beauty queen Aishwarya Rai, which was the first film in her Cinema career. Mohanlal had an exposure to the Bollywood in 2002 with a movie named ‘Company’ which made him popular among the North Indians also. His second film in the Bollywood was in the remake of the famous film ‘Sholey’ which is acted for Sanjeev Kumar in he original. He was acclaimed for the Cann Film Festival for his splendoring role in the Malayalam movie named ‘Vanaprastham’ for which he was acted as a Kathakali artist.
Achievements of Mohanlal Mohanlal has received 10 National Award nominations in the Best Actor category, which is the most nominations than any other actor and he was awarded two out of that. His famous Malayalam film ‘Guru’ was remarked India's official entry to the World of Oscars and also considered for nomination in the Best Foreign Film for 1997. He was awarded with the greatest film award of India for his astonishing performances in the movies named ‘Bharatham’ and ‘Vanaprastham’. He was awarded for Special Jury award in 1989 for his amazing role in the Malayalam film named ‘Kireedam’. The movie ‘Vanaprastham’ also gived him an International recognition and was nominated for Cann Film Festival and was screened in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section in 1999. The same film also awarded him the national award for the best producer of 1999. The government of India has awarded by ‘Padma Shri in 2001. The year 2009 and 2010 marked some great achievements for this great personality. He was honored by pride post of Lieutenant Colonel by Territorial Army in 2009 and was awarded an honorary doctorate by Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in the year 2010. And now Mohanlal is known as Padmashri Doctor Lieutenant Colonel Mohanlal.
