Kerala schools to get virtual private network
Numbering around four thousand schools in Kerala can enjoy the benefits of internet access through a Virtual Private Network, which will be provided through a tie-up between IT@School programme and BSNL. The project cost up to 75% will be met by the Central Government under the ICT@School scheme.A memorandum of understanding between the Government and BSNL has been signed for this project, and is expected to be in working within one month. This is, perhaps, the first project of this type taken up as part of school education.
The facility is expected to benefit 2,495 high schools, 1,236 higher secondary schools, 377 vocational higher secondary schools and 233 upper primary schools. This project will provide the possibility of real-time, online, collaborative learning for these schools.
