Thiruvananthapuram, 23 June 20101: The MILMA milk price is increased by Rs. 3 per litre by the Kerala Cabinet. Among the increment of Rs. 3, Rs. 2.76 will be for the dairy farmers and the rest will go to the milk dealers. Although, the demand was for an hike of Rs. 5, Government decided to increase the milk price by Rs.3 only. But the Milma has no share in the hike price.
According to the Chief Minister, the increase in milk price will be a problem to all as other increment. But the government also need to address the demands of dairy farmers. Recently, the cost of food and other amenities of dairy animals have increased. So this step is to all these issues.
Meanwhile, the increase in Milk price is not welcomed by MILMA authorities. They want to have a more hike. According to the committee, who studied the demans of dairy farmers and other problems, the hike should have Rs.5.
