ERNAKULAM-POONA DISTANCE NARROWS

Hats off to Shri E Ahmed, Minister for Railways for bringing down the distance from Ernakulam to Poona from 30th Nov 10 onwards by launching Ernakulam-Poona Superfast Express on bi-weekly basis. The fact that there is no air link direct to Poona from any of the Airports in Kerala and the imnportance of the new train at this juncture is unique and a right step for the welfare of the thousands of Keralites in Poona. The train takes only less than 24 hours to cover the distance of 1667 Kms which is a boon if we consider the flight one has to go to Mumbai to catch a flight to Cochin, Trivandrum or Calicut. The maximum benefits reaches the Malabar sector. They can reach home early from Pune at a cheaper cost. One can enjoy the natural beauty of the areas from Mangalore to Panvel. The biweekly schedule needs to be extended atleast thrice in a week and one should start from Trivandrum for the benefit of passengers beyond Ernakulam.
