Koose Muniswamy Veerappan Gounder commonly known as Veerappan was a big headache for the government of South Indian states for years. He had ruled the forest with his dacoit activity over the years which always created problems to Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka state government. He was a wanted criminal by police of these three states over decades for killing approximately 184 people, mainly police officials. He was also smuggling sandalwood and tusks of elephants. Governments had offered 5 crore Rupees as a price money for his head. He was killed by police in the year 2004 by a joint attack of the three state police.
Slain forest brigand Veerappan's life is now made into film by director AMR Ramesh. The movie is going to be released in three languages including Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. In Malayalam the movie is named as “Attahasam”, in Tamil it is named as “Vaanayudham” while in Telugu it is named as “Veerappan” itself. There were number of movies made on the basis of Veerappan's story and most of them were super hits.
The movie “Attahasam” will be hitting theaters by this February after getting cleared from Madras High Court. It's Tamil and Telugu version is also planned to be released by February 14th or 15th. All the three versions has been cleared by the respective censor board but the stay order against the movie is put on tenterhook. Now, the stay order is been cancelled with an order to remove/alter scene no. 8 and 14.
The movie “Attahasam” which depicts the life history of forest brigand Veerappan has been under the scandal from its initial stage. Journalist Nakeeran Gopalan who explained the life story of Veerappan in front of the world also came against the movie and now he has cancelled the injunction after seeing the movie. Veerappan's wife also came against the movie as she thinks the movie portrays her husband and the family in poor light. However, after her complaint the director was ready to change some scenes in the movie. But, only now the movie “Attahasam” got approved from the court.

The movie is made after a research of over 10 years about Veerappan's life and director urges the movie will bring the real story of him in silver screen. Famous actor Kishor is coming in the role of Veerappan while Arjun is casted as DGP Vijayakumar. The movie “Attahasam” is portraying Veerapan's evolution and declination of his life and also depicts the dramatic event which took place in Veerappan life, the kidnap of late Dr. Rajkumar, Legendary actor of Kannada film world. Suresh Oberoi is playing the role of Late Dr. Rajkumar in the movie “Attahasam”.
The movie Attahasam is coming into limelight after being in the box for months. However, in this epoch, success of this movie depends on how the youth accepts it. Possibly, the movie is going to be a failure in this new generation movie era, even though the movie explains the slain forest brigand Veerappan's life to the young generation.
