Most of the graduate and post graduate courses in Computer Science and Computer Applications require students to complete an academic project. Typically, the MCA projects are done during the last semester of the course. In this article, I will discuss some great opportunities do the MCA projects in Kerala with guidance from an expert Microsoft MVP

MCA Projects

A typical example is, the MCA courses. MCA stands for Masters in Computer Applications. The full time MCA courses offered by Indian universities include 6 semesters and the last semester is for an academic project. MCA students are expected to join some companies out side their college for the project and participate in the complete life cycle of the project.

Where to do the MCA projects in Kerala ?

Typically, each student must join an IT company and complete the project. Even though it is not required by the university, it is strongly recommended you join an IT company rather than joining a company in non-IT industry. There are several benefits in doing the MCA project with an IT company.

Benefits of doing MCA projects with IT (software) companies

  • Chances of getting an IT job is higher if you have prior experience with any IT companies. Your project training with IT company can be considered as 'IT experience'

  • In a software company, you may get the opportunity to participate in full life cycle of the project

  • Software companies may hire you as an employee after completing the project

  • You can learn from seniors in the company

  • You will get the confidence to work on large IT projects

  • Some software companies pay stipend during the project

  • You will get exposure to quality control, documentation, good programming practices etc

  • Some software companies offer you free training

  • Other options for MCA projects

The project opportunities with software companies are very limited. Many IT companies do not prefer to take project trainees since that will slow down the work of others in the team. Even if they accept few trainees, most of the time those opportunities goes to friends and relatives of the employees.

But even if you can't get in to a software development company, there are other opportunities. You can find several IT training companies offering MCA projects. Such training institutes may provide you excellent training and guidance for your MCA project. Only issue is, you will have to pay a fees to do the project in their facility.

Fees for MCA project & Training

Never choose an institute which offer cheap project training option. If any institute is offering a 3 months project training for low fees like Rs 5000 or Rs 10,000, do not go for it. No one can offer quality training for such low fees. Most of those institutes give you ready-made project and a project completion certificate. There will be no quality training and no computer lab facility. To get high quality training with proper lab facility, you need to spend atleast Rs 25,000. But higher fees does not guarantee good training.

Lyceum Academy - project guidance by Tony John, Microsoft MVP

Tony John, a Microsoft MVP in ASP.NET with over 14 years of software engineering experience is now offering MCA project guidance. Tony has worked in countries like Korea, Japan and USA for several years and has involved in various projects with multi national companies like Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Bank Of America etc.

After spending around 10 years in USA, Tony is launching a .NET training center in India. "Lyceum Academy" is born out of his passion to train people. The MCA project training offered by Tony through the Lyceum Academy include 3 months of intensive training with 6 hours of per day and 5 days a week. This is a full time program where you will be trained in all aspects of software development and will cover the complete life cycle of the project.

The seats are limited. Since Tony will be the trainer directly training the students, only a limited number of students can be admitted.
