Vande Mataram is the big budget movie starring two super stars Mammooty and Arjun. The film started rolling in the mid of 2007 but was stopped due to the financial crisis in Malayalam film industry. Sneha and Sharadha Arya are playing the female lead roles in Vande Mataram. Vande Mataram is going to release in Malayalam and Tamil. The name of tamil verion was earlier decided as Aruvadai but later it's changed to Vande Mataram.

The estimated budget of Vande Mataram was about 14 crores. The bollywood actor Amitabh Bachan was approached to do a major role in the movie but he refused it due to date problems. The highlight of the film is a patriotic song rendered by 10 popular playback singers like D. Imman, Harish Raghavendra, Vijay Yesudas, Haricharan, Naresh Iyer, Krish, Pop Shalini, Mathangi, Srilekha Parthasarathy and Chinmayi. The film is expected to release on July 15 2010.

The story of Vande Mataram is related to terrorism in India. The Central Intelligence Agency get's information about a terrorist group coming to South India. Gopi Krishnan an officer in Intelligence bureau gets charge in the mission to defeat the terrorist group and arrest the leader Malik. Anwar Hussain the superintendent of Police is in the anti- terrorist squad to assist Gopi Krishnan. Mammotty and Arjun are playing the roles of Gopi Krishnan and Anwar Hussain. Sneha is acting as a pilot and the wife of Gopi Krishna. The film is an action thriller and is expected to have unpredicted twists in the climax.
