It's a proud moment for all Malayalees. Nizhalkkuthu, the Malayalam film directed by the famous film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has been selected for the Locarno International Film Festival. This popular film festival will be held from 3 August 2011- 13 August 2011 in the Swiss city. It should be noted that the director of this film Sri Adoor Gopalakrishnan has been invited to present his film & also to attend a seminar at the famous Locarno International Film Festival. The Locarno International Film Festival is popularly known as the Film Festival Locarno. This film festival was founded in the year 1946 & it got the name Locarno International Film Festival as it is held in the Locarno city located in Switzerland. The best film will be given the Golden Leopard Award, which is considered as the top prize of the Locarno International Film Festival. Some of the important features of the Locarno festival include room for over 8000 spectators, largest open air screen in the world etc.

As we all know Adoor Gopalakrishnan is a popular person who proved his talents in the Indian film industry as a producer, director & script writer. Nizhalkkuthu is one of the important films of Adoor Gopalakrishnan produced in Malayalam language, commonly used in Kerala state of India. Adoor Gopalakrishnan, the talented person was the director, co-producer & script writer of this film. The persons who acted in this film were Sukumari, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Narain, Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan, Indrans, Jagathy Sreekumar, Thara Kalian, Reeja etc. In this film Oduvil Unnikrishnan is playing the role of Kaliyappan, who was the last hangman of Travancore dynasty. He is dragging the remaining life by means of alcohol consumption & worshipping mother Goddess due to a feeling that the last man he hanged was an innocent. But once again he got the order from the King appointing him as an executioner. So Kaliyappan went to jail along with his son to assist him in his job. Here Narain is acting the role of Muthu (Kaliyappan's son). The movie gives you a message also. The actors & actresses played their role very beautiful in it. Remember that Nizhalkkuthu is an important film that won several awards like Kerala State Film Awards(best actor, second best actior, best editor, best costume designer, best sound recordist) & National Film Awards for Best Feature Film in Malayalam language etc.
