Onam, Christmas exams reintroduced in Kerala schools
The Onam & Christmas examinations which were stopped by the previous Government in Kerala state will be reintroduced by the UDF government who is presently ruling the Kerala state. The previously ruled LDF government had proposed a half yearly exam & a final year exam only. But now the UDF government is planning to conduct the Onam & Christmas examinations regularly. A meeting was organized by the secretary of public instructions at Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, 1 August 2011. After that meeting, they informed that the Onam examinations will be conducted from 22 August 2011 – 29 August 2011. Reintroducing the examinations in Kerala schools is welcomed by the pro-Congress Government School Teacher's Union (GSTU) but the pro-CPM Kerala School Teacher's Association (KSTA) is against the move of reintroducing examinations in the Kerala schools. Since this academic year has started already, will the schools be able to reschedule their all activities & conduct the examinations properly? Anyway conducting the examinations will be helpful for the students.
