Mammooty acting for the first time in a Kannada film. The hype surrounding the film Shikari was too much. The film was due for rele4ase last year but had been postponed due to endless reasons.

Shikari has be directed by well known Kannada director Abhaya Simha who had been stubborn with the fact that Mammootty has to do the character to make it lively. In fact he got his dream come true when Mammooty okayed the project hearing the story line which in fact intrigued him

Shikari is the story that happens in 2 decades or better 2 eras. The preindependence period and the modern present age. The hero of the film is Abhijit who is a software engineer who has the habit of reading books in free time. The story line comes up when he finds a torn up book called Shikari. The story is about the pre independence period hero who loved the daughter of a British officer. In fact Abhijit gets too entrenched in the story that he get frustrated when he finds that the last pages is the book has been torn off.

With the sole aim to investigate whether such a man lived really and the curiosity makes him to undertake a journey which was going to change the life he had. It is this journey that delves sin to the social stability of our country and the question that whether after getting independence are we free?

It is this question that is being hunted down. The theme of the story is something unique which have never been experimented ever in Malayalam or Kannada film industry. The film has a mixed star cast that comprises of top notch actors from both Malayalam and Kannada films.

the film director Abhaya Simha himself has penned the story and the screenplay for the film. In fact the Malayalam dialogues for the film is written by Eashwar Santhosh. Music is done by U. Harikrishna and editing by S. Manohar. The film has been produced by K .Manju.

Film marks its entry to be one of the rarest films which is a combination of 2 South Indian film industries. Kannada has been one language in South India where Mammooty has not acted. With Shikari records have broken and more records are prone to be broken.
