Do you remember the cute child artiste who stood near to the heart of Mohanlal in the movie Uncle Bun which was released in 1990? After proving her skill as a child artiste, Parvana(Monica) rose to the position of being a popular south Indian actress mostly active in tamil movies. Born on 25th August 1985 at Kottayam by the name Rekha Maruthiraj, Parvana had done supporting roles between the years 1990-2000 popularly in tamil films.

Parvana has acted in more than 40 movies as child artist. She returned to malayalam film industry through the movie Theerthadanam directed by B.Kannan. Even though the movie didn't get much applause in the box office, her role as Vinodhini got praise.

Parvana gave life to the character of Hema in the box office hit movie 'Phantom' opposite to Nishand Sagar. Later she was seen in the movie Kanninum Kannadikkum donning the role of Abhrami. She became much popular through the tamil movie Azhagi, Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi and Silandhi. As for need of the characters Parvana had to do glamorous roles in 'Silanthi' and other Tamil and Kannada movies.

After a small gap Paravana is back in malayalam through the movie '916' directed by M.Mohan. She would be paring opposite to Anoop Menon. After Kadha Parayumbol and Manikyakallu, M.Mohan is back with the movie 916 dealing with a family oriented subject. The movie speaks about the family and human relationship.

Parvana has been casted as a medical college student who later steps into family life which brings more seriousness in the later stage.

Parvana had also acted in two international movies 'The Prayer in the Angel' and 'Rose Kele' in English and Singhalese languages respectively. Parvana is expecting to get more opportunities in tamil, kannada and malayalam movies. Depending upon the scope of the characters, Monica aspires to select movies which would be more challenging and story focusing more on in-depth heroine characters.
