Malayalam film industry is undergoing a new trend where movies from the debutant directors are gaining sucess at the box office giving boost to many others to enter the field. Even producers do try their luck in direction too. Following this trend, producer Ranjith having an experience of twenty two years in films is making his debut as a director through the movie Black Butterflies.

Ranjith come into the movie field by producing Mugachithram in 1990. Later he had produced movies like Mugamudra, Ponnaranthotathe Rajavu etc. After a long gap Ranjith made a come back as producer through the movie Chindamani Kolakkes followed by Red Chilies, Elsamma Enna Ankutty, Makeupman etc. Now Ranjith is going to wear the cap of a director for the movie Black Butterflies.

Maniyanpilla Raju will produce the movie Black Butterflies under the banner Maniyanpilla Raju productions. Balaji Shakthivel has penned the story while J Pallassery is in charge of the script. Singer M G Sree Kumar will score the music of the movie black butterflies for the lyrics of Actor Anoop Menon who already had proved his mettle in acting and writing. .

Black Butterflies is portraying the love of two pairs which shares the modern as well as old modes of love. One among them is useding modern formats like mobile phone, chatting etc to build their relation while other exchange their love exchanging through their eyes.

The movie progresses while the two couples meet each other. The name 'Black Butterflies' has an interrelation with the climax of the movie.

The movie is expected to start shooting in September 2012. Currently the team behind the movie is busy searching for the cast. Fresh faces will be casted in the movie while we can hope the movie will hit theaters in 2013.
