Co-operative Medical College was started in 2000. This professional education is under the concern of Kerala Government. Primary classes were conducted in Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium, complex, Kochi. Later land was acquired from KMT estate at Kalamassery by Shri.E.R.Nayanar. In 2004 only college was shifted to the campus of Co-operative Medical College by Shri.A.K.Antony Chief Minister of Kerala, and by Dr.P.G.RPillai founder principal of this college. The college campus is spreaded over 60 acres and reach the tip of Cochin City. Classroom facility: Classrooms are spacious and ventilated in a best manner. 150 students can accommodate at a time. Practical session with LCD is available to the students for furnishing their studies in a lively manner.
Hospital of co-operative Medical College: The government of Kerala has a separate hospital facility for training of students. This hospital includes 600 bedded complexes. Medical college hospital mainly contains Pharmacy College, Nursing College and School of nursing. Various new technologies are available for students training. Respiratory is the famous medicine provided in this hospital among Kerala.
About library: Library is about 900sq.m and of about two floors. Totally 7220 books is available and with 100 foreign journals. Separate reference book is available for teaching staffs and students. 50 seats for teaching staff and 100 seats for students are furnished for library visitors. Internet facilities are provided for the teaching staff. Photocopy facility is available to both students and staffs. Many foreign Magazines also available inside library to learn about new technology release in the world.
Accommodation details: Separate hostel facility is available for both boys and girls with full furnished rooms. Separate quarters are provided for faculties. Hostels are with identical room for studies and TV rooms for entertainment. Gym facilities for both boys and girls inside hostel are with well-equipments. Indoor stadium for games like tennis, badminton, table tennis and outdoor stadium for football, basketball and volleyball is constructed. Courses offered inside campus: MBBS, BSC Nursing and Diploma in nursing these are three main offered inside college campus. MBBS is a 4 and ½ years course with 1 year internship, BSC nursing is 4 years course and Diploma in nursing course is 3 and ½ year course. A special training course is also available during vacation for the students from other institutions.
University: Co-operative Medical College is affiliated to Kerala University of health science from 2011.
Admission procedure: Yearly 100 seats is invited for MBBS and 60 seats is invited for both BSC nursing and Diploma in nursing. 85% of the students are admitted through state entrance examination cut-off rank list and remaining 15% seats is allotted for Non Resident Indian Students. All the admission is based on merit only.
Faculty and non teaching staffs: More than 50 staffs are appointed for teaching. 150 non teaching is appointed for furnishing the development of infrastructure to Co-operative Medical College.
