The worst part of violation of human rights in Kerala come, not from the law binding citizens but from the protectors of law. Every day we wake up to hear the nasty incidence of high handedness of the Police from different parts of the State. The other day, when a youth before a Speed post counter questioned a Policeman for by passing the queue, he was beaten up and threatened. The youngster had to call his friends to get out of the Post office safely. Of course, the culprit was later identified and booked. Public awareness and initiative to react to such violations will definitely help to curb the trend. There is a very bad need on the part of the authorities to book the culprits immediately and give wide publicity so that similar incidents do not recur. The speedy disposal of litigation may also help to certain extent. Justice delayed is justice denied.

It is a fact that the protectors of law themselves forget the underlying principles of human rights. There are several instances to point out this. Of late, inside the temple at Tripunithura an innocent teacher was abused by a watcher first and later by women police. She was simply, without any evidence charged theft case and taken to police custody. It was the festival time, and several people, including her own students, were witnessing these. Later it was proved that she was innocent and let free. See how the human rights are overlooked !
