A brief life sketch of the doyen of Malayalam literature, late Kodungallur Kunhikuttan Thampuran, known as 'Kerala Vyasan', is given below. Hailing from the royal family of Kodungallur, which was one of the centres of academic activities in ancient Kerala, contributed to both Malayalam and Sanskrit literature. Making poems was a hobby for him. This habit helped him to translate the great epic 'Mahabharatham' into Malayalam. Countless number of works are there to his credit.
