Kid Reality Shows : Are they hampering childhood ?

Reality shows have become a very popular form of entertainment now a days . Shows based on music and dance are present in all the channels and they are a good source of TRPs . Shows where kids are participants , are also very popular .

Do these shows change the behaviour of the children in any bad way ?

It is often observed that these children do not get time to do anything , a child usually does . The limelight and exposure as well as the popularity they get through the channels , often makes them addicted to these features . The heavy schedule of stage programmes and practice schedules do not give them time to play or enjoy their childhood .

Do you also feel so ? Discuss .

Kids realty shows are beneficial as well as harmful to the children.

It is beneficial in the sense that they get a platform to expose their talents. During the shows they get the guidance from the judges of the programs and can develop. By the interactions with various persons they get chances to have all round development. The personality including the self confidence of the children will improve.

Coming to the negative side, their studies will be affected. The undue publicity they get may make the children arrogant and head weighty. The pressure of competition will put them to tension and the aging process will be faster. Chances of getting into unnecessary habits may develop.

For every good thing there will be a negative side also. The parents have to be more vigilant.

Like two sides of a coin, the reality shows too have a bright and dark side.
The better part about the shows are that the children get a platform to exhibit their talents and rise to stardom all of a sudden. They get unmatched recognition which was difficult for a child before 5 or 6 years.
The dark side is that they miss their classes, loose attention to studies since they concentrate and dedicate most of their time for the shows. Also, there were cases when the children took the negative comments from their judges seriously and lost their sleep and appetite in tensions and worries.
