Changing attitude of NSS : Has it left its equidistant policy ?

Nair Service Society , an organisation created to represent the high caste malayalees is a non political organisation in the sense that it is not close to any front than the other . Following an equidistant policy , this organisation has a say in both the political fronts , and this has been a proof of the efficiency with which the organisation runs .

But the view of NSS , released a couple of days before shows a small deviation from this policy . Terming chief minister VS Achuthanandan as an uncultured person , G Sukumaran Nair the secretary of NSS , said that NSS does not wish that a VS government come to existence again .

Reactions from various corners of the LDF have been indicating that their relation with NSS has been strained . Leaders from UDF asked NSS why it had not given its stand before the elections ,

G Sukumaran Nair says that NSS is against VS and not LDF .

What do you think . Is NSS playing politics , owing to the high chances of UDF coming to power ?

Calling V S Achuthanadan as an uncultured person, and saying that his government should not come back, does not mean that NSS is siding with any front. Mr Sukumaran Nair himslef has clarified that NSS is against VS and not LDF. He has not stated that NSS is supporting UDF.

As to his remarks about V S, it is a fact. Those who watched the TV during his visit to the house of Unnikrishnan, father of the martyr Sandeep Unnikrishnan, supposed to be for consolation made uncivilized remark that even a dog would not have gone to the house but for the death of Unnikrishnnan. He made a uncivil remark of Rahul Gandhi. During the campaign he made vulgar remark about his opponent who is lady. Under the cover of dual meaning he could get away with it. Will he say such a thing about his wife or daughter? Will he meekly accept such remarks if used against him by others under similar circumstances? Perhaps he may have a thick skin and may not mind.

He is the chief minister of a state.

This remark has anyway led to a strain of relations between LDF and NSS . Though we know that all of CPIM is on one side and VS is on another , when LDF comes to power (if not this time , according to the rotation principle of Kerala , after five years ) NSS will not benefit much if immediate measures are not taken by the NSS to repair the broken relations .

Mr.Sukumaran Nair's remarks cannot be interpreted as that of all who belong to Nair community. He happens to be in charge of the secretary, since Sri.Narayana Panikkar is on leave. Further, the remark has come after the election, hence it will not affect the election result. The attack was mainly against an individual, V.S. It was not fully against LDF. There still the earlier stand is continued. Any how the dead line (13th May) is very close, let us see what is in the waiting.
