Witch Hunting of Mr Achuthanandan ?

Sri V S Achuthanandan has stated that the UDF Government is victimising him by raking up of 11 baseless cases including one against his son. This he stated in Hyderabad on the eve of the CPM high level conference to assess the poll debacle.

Actually what has happened is that the UDF Government has referred 11 issues which were raised by them when in opposition. Since Achuthanandan describe these as baseless charges, he should have no complaint. On the contrary he should take it as an opportunity to clear himself of the charges.

This was invited by Achuthanandan himself. When he was chief minister, he has taken up issues against many of his opponents including that of his own party colleagues. If his remarks on these are recollected, it will appear, that these are deliberately being done by him and he has pleasure in doing so. Persons in power can play such mischief which can be made to appear as doing some good job.

Why I state this is that Mr Achuthanandan had taken up some cases like the Ice Cream Parlor (sex scandal) against Kunhalikutty. He did not take up the cases in the normal way. There are many agencies in Kerala itself to take care of the matters. He was not having confidence in them. So he went to Delhi and went to consult 2 S C advocates. His own government has appointed an Advocate General and there are several eminent advocates in Kerala itself. For this he has spent around 40 - 45 lakhs. Of course it might be paid by the party. Doest it not betray his fear that the issues may not stand on their own but require some special effort? Hence the search for the 'infallible' advocates?

The UDF has only referred the cases referred by them to the Achuthanandan Government to the state vigilance department. Of course if it is done as as a vindictive attitude it is very bad.

Probably Sri Achuthanandan made the statement at Hyderabad, to garner support to him in the CPIM meeting.
