Food inflation fell sharply to a near four year low possition

Food inflation fell sharply to a near four-year low of 1.81 per cent as on December 10 as prices of certain essential items. The latest number is the lowest rate of food inflation since the week ended 9th Feb 2008, when it was 2.26 per cent.
The vegetables became cheaper by 26.37 percent. Experts said the moderation in food inflation numbers, which was in double-digit in early November, was on account of a good kharif harvest as well as a high base, suggested by the over 13 percent rate of price rise of food items in the corresponding period of 2010.
Inflation in the overall primary articles category stood at 3.78 per cent during the week ended December 10 against 5.48 per cent in the previous week.

Are these Statistics relating to Kerala? The real experiences when one steps into a hotel is not justifying these. Last year the price of a cup of tea was Rs.4/- or 5/-. This year no hotels supply tea for that price. Minimum is Rs.6/-. Similarly the cost of vegetables also are not showing any downward trend.
