    Equal importance to plus two marks and entrance exam

    One more entrance season is coming to an end.Preparation for the next season has began.And from next year onwards equal priorities are giving for entrance and plus two marks .Although the syllabus for the two are same, they differs in many things.Entrance mainly focus on application level questions,but the plus two exams are based on theory and definitions. When entrance exams produce bright students , plus two exams produce good students who simply by hearts things to vomit in exam papers.
    So is this again one among the Utopian move of our educational department?

    The Government says that they are going to give equal importance to both plus two marks and the entrance examination. But the chance for it to come into action is very less. The reasons to support this fact are;
    1.Difference in the evaluation policy of SCERT and CBSE. When the top mark in CBSE is 96%, there will be much large number of students in kerala syllabus with marks above 99%.Hence they need to make a policy to compensate this issue.
    2.This will lead to overload of works for the concerned departments.
    3.Difference in the level of examination. Actually the entrance examination is the one which evaluates the aptitude for a professional study rather than the plus two examinations.

    There are two dimensions for this. One is positive and the other is negative.
    Positive side is that the students from the rural areas get more chance to get selected when the Plus two weightage is added. These students do not get chance to attend entrance coaching classes like the urban dwellers.Generally the ranks are shared by urban students.

    Negative side is that the results of Plus two will become manipulated because of this, especially the results from Private institutions..

    Thats a really nice thing to hear. I had got about 96% marks in plus two but got very poor marks in entrance. So that affected allotments. So i support this decision as this will help the children who are from rural areas and do not have much training.

    I think now it has become easier for Kerala Students to pass the entrance examination which also considers their +2 mark. Due to the competition from the special entrance coaching centres most of them are having a worry that they are not getting good ranks in entrance exams even if they are scoring well in the board mains. This is an ideal situation for them to fight in. This is also a fatal to many entrance coaching institution.

    This may also be a glad news for the students who cannot afford to go for entrance coaching and all. This decision will also motivate the students to score very high in their board mains. The good thing is that their tensions about the entrance is halfly releaved by scoring good marks in their board.

    This will also create an oppurtunity for the state to find out some cream brains of Kerala with out any treatment of Entrance coaching.

    Thanks lijin for putting relevant issues
