You are right. These days the labour force of Kerala is becoming non-Malyalees. This is more in the construction field. Earlier also, for menial and hard works, Malayalees were not coming forward. It was Tamil speaking people who were doing this. I used to see hundreds of Tamil speaking people, both men and women, crowding in the early hours in main junctions in Kochi, in order to go for the day's job. Some contractors approach them and take a few of them to a work site. These people come prepared with lunch box and all that.
Now the picture is changing. It is North Indians, those from West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, etc.who are in the field. Earlier the labour charges in Kerala were attractive for those from Tamil nadu. Now they are also getting better wages there. But the condition of labourers in most of the North Indian States have not improved. Hence they migrate to Kerala.
People of Kerala will do physical work only if they are outside the country, or at least out side the State.

The increase in number of non-Malayalees in Kerala labour force is mainly due to Malayalees behaviour. Malayalees are not ready to work for the wage they are getting. In Tamilandu, the wage they are gettiing is around Rs. 100. So how they can't come to Kerala if they are offered with double the wage? The wages in North Kerala is more worse. It is less than 100 in many parts.
Here, Keralites are getting more than Rs. 350 and some people are getting more than Rs 500. Still we are not ready to work for the wage we are getting and want more. Many of the works which can be completed in one day are completed in one week. This makes the site owners and others to call non-Malayalees.
On the contrary, they are a good labour force. And the owners need to pay less than 300 for the non-Malayalees.
Their hard work and the low wage make them one of emerging group in Kerala.
