    Hi rama krishana,
What you pointed out is a true fact. Our traffic problems have been increasing for the years. And Kerala has got more vehicle densities than any other states in the country, with the density increasing in a more rapid manner. It seems that if these roads are not expanded, by 2020, there won't be any transportation on the roads. It will be full of traffic blocks in the roads.

And the people can also do something to reduce these traffic blocks. Why we are using bikes for the nearest town, eventhough it's a walkable distance away. Many of the small traffic blocks are made large by the two wheelers due to their rush. We must understand that the two wheelers not only creates traffic blocks, but also leading to the loss of fuels. So it will be better if we switch on to public transportation systems like buses.

Current Traffic problems mainly due to improper planning , lack of systematic upgrades, non awareness of traffic rules, in appropriate maintenance, traffic law violations etc.

Day by day road traffic increased dramatically. proper planning is very much essential to solve this issue.

first thing is our narrow roads. I think most worst roads are there only in our kerala, god's own country. am I right?

road widening puts lots of problems like Land acquisition among people.

    Vehicle density is increasing exponentially.

How we can solve this issue?
    fly overs are needed ?

    What is your opinion?

    Yes Ms Sameera
You are absolutely correct, Flyovers and metros are to be introduced. And also to dis encourage traveling on land roads, water transport should be introduced with modern high speed traveling boats. Another thing MEMO trains are inevitable .

    Hi,

The introduction of bridges and flyovers will be one of the best option to reduce traffic blocks in crowded places. We can have these structures near the railway crosses and other junctions too. But the problem is about the completion of these projects. The PWD department and other activities will make the projects to a slow run.

As Joshi pointed, there are many other means by which we can facilitate a good transportation in Kerala. The backwater travels will be the best. Although it's used by the people, but not in the way upto which it could accommodate.

Allowing bulk vehicles like buses in metros is another method. Our metros are crowded only because of the two wheelers and other small vehicles.

We must take something from other nations like Brazil. What they are doing is the transportation of numbers. It means the vehicles with even numbers can travel on a particular day and vehicles with odd number on another day.
But we are not in a such peak situation. It could be used when there won't be any places for the vehicles to move on roads. If the situation goes like this, hope is that it will happen sooner.

    Hi dears
Proper maintenance of the roads and no parking zones should be marked in crowded places and roadsides. It can reduce traffic jams for a short time only. But should think of a permanent solution. Now it a big issue of parking problems in cities and towns. For safe parking, parking spaces and multi parking buildings are to be constructed. If MEMU (mainline electric multiple unit) trains are introduced, it will encourage 4 wheeler pass angers not to use their vehicles because MUMU trains can solve the time waste. So automatically 50% traffic jams and parking problems can be solved.

Traffic problem is a genuine problem. When the number of vehicles go on increasing the roads also should be expanding correspondingly. Now in Kerala most of the middle class families own a vehicle. Earlier those who were owning a two wheeler have changed over to owners of four wheelers.

Most of the motor companies are introducing their new models in Kerala together with another major cities. And they have always got good response from the people of Kerala. An estimate shows that at the national level when a vehicle is there for every 25 people, in Kerala every six people has one vehicle. So we can understand the gravity of the issue of road development.

Now the latest developments show that the much expected 'Metro Rail' project might be delayed further, or even lost.
