Malayalam megastar Mammootty who had was a part of 7 malayalam movies in 2012 is looking forward for a grandiose year with a handful of projects already in kitty. In the year 2012, 7 movies of Mammootty was released – The King and the Commissioner, Cobra, Thappana, Jawan of Vellimala, Face to Face and Bhavuttiyude Namathil. Among them, the Christmas release movie Bhavuttiyude Namathil had done good business at the box office collecting 5 crore in the first 2 weeks. As the theme of the movie had deep roots on the life of the people of Malabar, collections from theatres in the region had been fair good.
2013 is expected to a bright year for the actor who has more than 30 years of experience in acting and had acted in more than 370 movies. Kammath and Kammath, Immanuel, Kunjanathente Kada, The Gangster and Arivaal Chuttika Nakshtram are the malayalam movies which will feature Mammootty in lead. Kammath & Kammath
Kammath & Kammath is directed by Thomson K. Thomas who made his directorial debut with Karyasthan. The movie will be complete entertainer with Mamootty in lead role with Dileep, Karthika Nair, Rima Kallingal and Narain seen in supporting roles. Mamootty and Dileep will be seen as Kammath brothers while Narain is casted as an income tax officer. For more excitement tamil actor Dhanush will be seen in a cameo role who comes to inaugurate a hotel owned by the Kammath Brothers. Scripted by Udayakrishna -Siby K. Thomas, Kammath and Kammath will be produced by Anto Joseph. Karthika Nair and Rima Kallingal are the female leads. This movie made with a budget of 9 crores has already made news with its lavish sets, songs and stylish making. The satellite rights of the movie was sold for Mazhavil Manorama for a record sum of 4.95 crore (US$0.9 million), while the movie makers are aiming to cash the popularity of the actors. Kammath and Kammath is scheduled to get released on 25th January 2013.
Director Lal Jose had a wonderful outing with his previous movie Ayalum Njanum Thammil which turned to be huge success at box office. Now he is back to business with a new venture titled 'Immanuel' with Mammootty in lead. As done earlier Lal Jose will be introducing a fresh face Reenu Mathews as heroine. Aparna Nair, Mukesh and Guiness Pakru will be seen in prominent roles while young Fahadh Faasil is casted in a negative shade. Produced by S.Georgeat a budget of 4.5 crore, the film started rolling from 2nd January and is expected to reach theatres on 12th April 2013. The screenplay is handled by A.C.Vijesh while the movie will have the beautiful melodies set by Rafeeq Ahammed.
Kunjanathente Kada will be a mega project for fame director who had made world attention with his directorial debut Adaminte Makan Abu. 'Kunjananthante Kada' (Kunjananthan's shop) will be his second project featuring Mammootty in lead while the movie will bring some on the best in the industry together into a single platform. Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookkutty will be seen again in his role performing sync sound for the movie while the camera will be wielded by prominent cameraman Madhu Ambatt.
More interestingly Mammootty will be seen speaking in the Kannur slang while Salim Kumar who had brought fame to malayalam through his splendid acting brilliance as Abu would share screen space with the mega star. The theme of the movie revolves around the life of a husband and wife who are not ready to compromise and tolerate each other connected to socially relevant isssues set in the backdrop of Kannur. Mammootty will play the role of Kunjananthan, who runs a grocery shop. The movie would be a platform for various stage actors from the regions. The shooting of the movie will start soon at various locations in Palakkad.
The Gangster is an action packed malayalam movie directed by Aashiq Abu. Produced by UTV motion pictures, the shooting of the movie is expected to star during mid 2013. According to initial reports the movie will feature Da Thadiya fame Shekar Menon along with Mammootty.
Arivaal Chuttika Nakshatram
Arivaal Chuttika Nakshatram is another announced project of Mammootty which will be directed by Amal Neerad. To be taken in 3D, the movie will also feature Prithviraj and Nayanthara.
