Mamta Mohandas is a Malayali girl who hails from Kannur district of Kerala. She was born on 14th November 1985 and was brought up in Manama, Bahrain, where her father works. She did her schooling in the Indian School, Bahrain and have further moved on to Bangalore to pursue a Bachelor's degree. There she studied at the Mount Carmel College. She has learned Carnatic and Hindustani music as well.

Mamta has modeled for various companies such as IBM, Kalyan Kendra, Mysore Maharajah and Raymonds. She could do better as a model with her slim and tall nature.

Mamta's first appearance on screen was through the movie "Mayookham", directed by Hariharan in 2005. "Sivappathigaram" was her first movie in Tamil. "Yamadonga" is her first movie in Telugu and "Gooli" in Kannada. Mamta Mohandas was trained in Carnatic and Hindustani music from childhood. She first portrayed herself as a singer by singing the title track in the Telugu movie "Rakhi". In 2006 she won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Award for this song. Thus Mamta became famous as a singer in Telugu film industry before she became an actress in Telugu. The other songs sung by her are "36-24-36" for the film Jagadam, "Kaalai Kaalai" in the film Kaalai, "Mia" for Tulasi, "Idai Vazhi" for Goa, "Iravil Viriyum" for Arike and so on. The first song she sang in her Mother tongue was "Njan" for the film Anwar directed by Amal Neerad in 2010. She has also acted in that movie.

Mamata Mohandas Engagement and Marriage


At the age of 26, Mamta got engaged to her childhood family friend Prajith Padmanabhan. The ceremony took place on a magical date 11-11-11. Prajith Padmanabhan works as a director for Al Thoufeeq company, WLL in Bahrain. Later, on 28th December 2011, they got married. The marriage ceremony took place at Kozhikode district.

Mamta Seeks Divorce


Mamta Mohandas and her husband Prajith Padmanabhan have announced that they are moving on with divorce on another magical date 12-12-12. Hardly after one year of their marriage. She says that she have tried her best to make their marriage work but can't adjust as they both are very different individuals. They have realized that they can't sail on the same boat hence they came into a joint conclusion to part. She also added that she is planning to concentrate on her acting career and music after divorce.

Mamta, a cancer survivor


It is sad but true that Mamta Mohandas is a cancer survivor. She was caught by "Hodgkin's lymphoma" and have fought against it with a positive energy. As a part of this disease, she had to cut off her hair for chemotherapy sessions. During the shooting of the Malayalam movie "Anwar", she had managed with wigs.
