Recipe of Sausage Curry - Easy and Spicy


You all know what sausage is and how to get fried. But are you wondering how to prepare a curry with sausage? You might be, as sausage was not a Keralite food. Now we get chicken sausages and beef sausages in the market. Here in this article I have mentioned about chicken sausage, as not all eat beef sausages. Others don't have to mind as the same procedure applies for beef sausages as well. Read on and experiment the same at your kitchen.

As sausage curry is not a traditional Keralite dish, we might think making this dish is a tedious task. A great "NO" is my answer. Sausage curry is one of the most easiest and yummiest dish one can make. Almost all the ingredients used in this dish are easily available at home and of course we can have this dish along with any meal. Working women should definitely try this as it makes you job easier and kids will love it. Chicken sausages are even liked by people those who do not eat chicken. From this statement itself you can feel the taste of this delicious dish. As sausages are half boiled, it won't take much time to prepare this dish. Recipe of Chicken Sausage Curry

Ingredients :


  • Chicken Sausage : 1 Packet (consists of 10-12 franks)

  • Onion (Sabola) : 2-3 Nos

  • Ginger : 1/4 Portion

  • Garlic : 5-6 Pods

  • Green Chilly : 3 Nos

  • Tomato : 1 No

  • Curry Leaves : 2 Sprigs

  • Coriander Leaves : As Reqd

  • Turmeric Powder : 1/2 Tsp

  • Coriander Powder : 1/2 Tsp

  • Red Chili Powder : As Reqd

  • Cumin Powder : 1/4 Tsp

  • Garam Masala : 1/2 Tsp

  • Meat Masala/Chicken Curry Powder : 1 Tsp

  • Mustard Seeds : 1/4 Tsp

  • Dried Red Chilly : 2 Nos

  • Salt : To taste

  • Oil : 2 Tblsp

  • Water : 1/4 Cup

Method of Preparation :


  1. Wash the sausage thoroughly and chop it into small pieces(in round shape) of equal length. For the time being keep it aside.

  2. Finely chop the onions, green chillies, ginger and garlic.

  3. Heat a pan, pour oil into it, splutter mustard seeds and add dried red chilly into it.

  4. Then add the chopped vegetables along with curry leaves.

  5. Close the lid and allow it to cook for few minutes.

  6. Once it is half cooked, add turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala and curry powder to it.

  7. Mix well and gently. Close the lid and allow to cook for 3-4 minutes.

  8. Chop the tomato and add it to the mixture.

  9. After 2 minutes, add the chopped sausage into the mixture.

  10. Stir well until the masala get mixed well with the sausages.

  11. Sprinkle little water and close the lid and allow it to cook.

  12. If you need dry wish, then do not add more water, if you require gravy then add 1/4 cup water to the dish.

  13. Close the lid and allow it to cook for 10 minutes.

  14. Remove the lid, add chopped coriander leaves on top.

  15. Off the flame and serve hot.

Conclusion :


As I have mentioned above, the same recipe applies for beef sausages as well. Another thing to be noted is chicken franks are the same as chicken sausages, so don't get confused if you are a first time purchaser. This dish is best with chapatis and rotis. Try it and enjoy your meal.
