The people of Karnataka are going to the polling booth on 5th May to elect their government to rule their state for the next five years. Asianet and other major Malayalam News channels will telecast the live updates of the Karnataka State Assembly Election 2013. Asianet has also opened a new page in their official website to provide all the live updates of the election and result of the Assembly Election. The Battle for the crown is between the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP). In Karnataka, the BJP was for years associated with Mr Yeddyuruappa, the man who led it to form its first ever government in south India. He dominated the scene and defied his party leadership with impunity when he was asked to step down on corruption charges. So for 2013 election, Yedurappa has formed his own party Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) to race to the Assembly. KJP is expected to bag around 7 percent of the vote share which is expected to hit BJP very hard. This gives congress a higher hope to crown the 2013 Assembly election

In the 2008 State Assembly Election, Congress secured the maximum vote share (in terms of percentage) in the state, but BJP managed to get more seats than congress and BJP won the State Assembly Election. They won 110 seats out of the total 224 seats. Congress managed to get only 80 seats. JD(S) and JDU got 28 and 6 seats respectively. As per the Pre-election survey carried out by major TV channels, most of them predict that Karnataka will favour Congress in the Karnataka Assembly Election 2013. As per the Pre-Election survey done by Asianet, Congress will get around 100 to 110 seats with a vote share of 38 percent. BJP will get 55 to 65 seats with a vote share of 25 percent. According to a pre-poll survey conducted by CSDS for CNN-IBN and The Week, Congress is all set to decimate the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and storm the Vidhana Soudha with a clear majority. As per the survey, the Congress is likely to secure 117-129 seats (37 percent vote share) and BJP will secure just 23 per cent of votes with 39-49 seats.

Pre-Election Survey by Asianet

Congress – 100 to 110 seats (38 percent vote share)
BJP – 55 to 65 seats (25 percent vote share)
JDS – 30 to 40 seats (20 percent vote share)
KJP – 5 to 10 seats (8 percent vote share)
Others – 5 to 10 seats (9 percent vote share)
