The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) for Admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at National Institute of Technology (NITs) , IIITs, Other centrally funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by several participating State Governments and it is the eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).

The Result of JEE 2013 will be declared on 7th May 2013 and will be available online in the official website of CBSE for JEE. Earlier All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was conducted by CBSE for admission in NITs. But now they brought the admission to all premier colleges in India to under one Exam and this exam is conducted as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main).

JEE (Main) is taken as a Eligibility test for appearing the JEE (Advanced) which is conducted for the admission of Undergraduate Engineering program to the most prestigious engineering institutes of India, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). 50.5% of the 1,50,000 (75,750 candidates) will be taken from the top rankers of the Common Merit List (CML) of JEE (Main).

27% (40,500), 15% (22,500) and 7.5% (11,250) candidates will be taken from the top rankers of the category rank lists of OBC-NCL, SC and ST, respectively. The name of the candidates appearing in the reservation category is those who are not included in the 75,750 candidates in the common merit list of JEE 2013.
