Recipes of Different Types of Jam – Tasty and Kerala Special


Jam is delicious and healthy too. Children loves to have their favorite jam during breakfast. This article reveals the entire method for the preparation of Mango, Pineapple, Apple and Mixed fruit jam which are really delicious and healthy too. Kerala is blessed with lots of sweet and juicy fruits all over the place. No one is ready to take stress in converting these edible fruits into delicious recipes. There are wide ranges of jam recipes which can be easily prepared. This article reveals the entire method for the preparation of Mango, Pineapple, Apple and Mixed fruit jam which are really delicious and healthy too. Read below to get the recipe of the various types of easy to cook jams.

Before getting into the recipes, let me explain some of its ingredients.
Potassium Meta bi-sulphite (K.M.S) is a preservative which is used only in squashes as a bleaching agent and has a strong smell. It looks like rava (Semolina) and is white in color.
Citric acid is used for; souring, as a preservative, to clear the sugar syrup and to avoid re-crystallization.
Sodium Benzoate(S.B) is a fine powder which has no smell. Its 1 heap teaspoon is about 3 gm.
Mango Jam - home made

1) Mango Jam


Ingredients:


•Sugar – 750 gm
•Mango pulp – 1 kg
•Citric acid – 3 gm
•Color – Tartazine (1/4 teaspoon)
•Mango essence – 1/4 teaspoon
•S.B – 1 gm

How to prepare:


Wash and remove the pulp of some nice and ripe mangoes. If the pulp does not come out then remove the skin and the seed so as to cut the edible part into small pieces. Cook the pulp for little while and add some sugar to it. Now carefully add citric acid when the entire sugar dissolves. Cook till plate test comes and then put it down from the gas. Add color, essence, S.B to the hot jam and it should be filled in sterilized bottles. Finally put the lid on when the jam becomes cold or set. Now you can enjoy the sweet mango jam with bread or any other dish of your wish.
Apple Jam - home made

2) Apple Jam


Ingredients:


•Apples – 1¼ kg
•Apple pulp – 1 kg
•Sugar – 750 gm
•Citric acid – 3 gm
•Color – Orange red color (1/4 teaspoon)
•Raspberry essence – 1/4 teaspoon
•S.B – 1 gm

How to prepare:


Remove the skin and seeds of the apples and grate it after washing it thoroughly. If the quantity of the jam to be prepared is more, then after removing the seeds, cut the apple into small pieces and allow it to get cooked properly by adding water. Try the pulper, Kitchen master or juicer to remove the pulp. Add sugar in needed quantity. When the sugar gets dissolved add citric acid to it. Cook till plate test comes and remove it from the gas and add color essence and S.B to it. Stir properly and fill it in sterilized bottles and close it with the lid when the jam becomes cold and set. Now you have your delicious apple jam ready in front of you.
Pine Apple Jam

3) Pineapple Jam


Ingredients:


•Pineapple – 1 medium sized and 3 apples of big size
•Pulp – 1 kg
•Sugar – 750 gm
•Citric acid – 3 gm
•Essence – Pine apple essence
•Color – Yellow color
•S.B – 1 gm

How to prepare:


Grate the apple after washing properly. Cut the Pineapple into 4 parts through the middle. Remove the skin and grate it. Apple and Pineapple should be cooked together and add sugar after cooking it properly. Add citric acid to this when sugar melts completely. Cook till plate comes and remove it from the gas and add color essence along with S.B. Now you have your delicious Pineapple jam in front of you and which can be served during breakfast.
Mixed fruit jam

4) Mixed Fruit Jam


Ingredients:


•Pulp – 1 kg
•Sugar – 750 gm
•Citric acid – 3 gm
•Color – Raspberry red (1/4 teaspoon)
•Mixed fruit essence – 1/4 teaspoon (Raspberry, Pine apple and Orange essence mixed together added)
•S.B – 1 gm
•Apple pulp – 50 %
•Pineapple pulp – 10%
•Papaya pulp – 10%
•Banana pulp – 10%
•Other fruit pulp – 20% (grapes, oranges, strawberry, chickoos, raspberry and mangoes)
•1 dozen Apple – 1 kg pulp
•1 big papaya – 1 kg pulp
•1 big pineapple – 1 kg pulp (you can also use banana pulp)

How to prepare:


First grate the apples and Pine apples properly and keep them aside. Remove the skin and put the papaya and banana in kitchen master to remove its pulp. Also remove the skin and seeds of orange, grapes and strawberry so as to cut it into small pieces and extract the pulp from it. Then make the pulp of chickoos and remove it from the kitchen master. Mix all the pulp and cook properly by adding the necessary sugar along with some citric acid. Finally when plate test comes, add color, essence and S.B and stir it properly. Fill this hot jam in a sterilized bottle and allow it to cool for final setting. Now you have your mixed fruit jam in front of you and can be enjoyed with any of your breakfast according to your desire.
