Kerala Engineering (KEAM) rank list/result will be announced today at 12.30 PM by the educational minister PK Abdu Rabb during the press meet held at PRD chamber. It is the first time engineering entrance rank list/results is being published before the usual date. Last year Engineering entrance list was published on 25th June. The educational minister Abdu Rabb will officially declare the Kerala Engineering rank list today.
The Engineering Rank list is for admission to the B Tech Programmes in Government/Aided Engineering Colleges including the B.Tech (Agri. Engg), B.Tech (Food Engg) Courses under the Kerala Agricultural University and B.Tech (Dairy Science & Technology) under the Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University and for admission to Government Controlled Self-financing and Private Self-financing Engineering Colleges are published today at 12.30 PM and will be available on the official website of entrance commissioner thereafter.
As in the last year Kerala engineering entrance rank list/results for the Engineering admissions is prepared by giving equal weightage for the marks in the Entrance Examination and the standardized marks in the qualifying examination in the relevant subjects. Students who have appeared for entrance exam, is now eagerly waiting for the entrance result to know their rank. About 74226 students have gained qualification mark on the entrance examination result announced on 23-5-2013. Students have entered the marks of their qualifying examination and the same was published for approval. The rank list of Kerala engineering entrance is announced based on these data.
Marks obtained by the candidates in the three subjects (Mathematics and Physics and one of Chemistry/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Biology), in the Board Examination, computed out of 100, mapped on to a common base considering the 'Global mean' and 'Global Standard Deviation' in the process of standardization. The 'Global Mean' is the mean of marks secured by all students who have taken the examination in a subject in the Kerala Higher Secondary, Kerala VHSE, CBSE and CISCE streams in the five years from 2009 to 2013. The 'Global Standard Deviation' is the standard deviation of marks secured by all students who have taken the examination in a subject in the Kerala Higher Secondary, Kerala VHSE, CBSE and CISCE streams in the five years from 2009 to 2013. The total of the standardized marks in the three subjects is limited to 300. The Marks scored by candidates in the Entrance Examination, out of 960, will be computed out of 300. It means maximum marks considered in the ranking process would be 600.
For admission to Engineering courses, including B.Tech (Ag Engg) and B.Tech (Food Engg) courses under the Kerala Agricultural University and B. Tech (Dairy Science & Technology) under Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, applicant should have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together as an eligibility criteria for the engineering admission.
