How to prepare Kerala special sweet erachi puttu?


When we heard the name Kerala first thing strikes in our mind nature and next thing is "puttu". We know puttu can be prepared by using sugar and grated coconut. It taste sweet and it is white in colour. It is vegetarian dish and is so soft. Do you want to prepare spicy non vegetarian puttu? Here I have given some steps to prepare spicy Kerala erachi puttu.

Most of the people in Kerala add puttu to their morning breakfast. They eat puttu along with banana for easy digestion. Puttu is made with rice flour. We may also try Kerala erachi puttu which is a spicy dish. It taste so nice and it looks delicious. It is very easy to prepare and it consume very less time for preparation. Ingredients required for Kerala erachi puttu


1. Puttu powder (rice flour): ½ cup
2. Coconut: 1 cup (grated)
3. Salt: as required
4. Water: as required
5. Chicken/meat: 300 g (bone less)
6. Onion: 1 (chopped)
7. Tomato: 1 (chopped)
8. Garam masala: ½ tsp
9. Pepper powder: ½ tsp
10. Coriander leaves: 2 tsp (chopped)
11. Coconut oil: 2 tsp
12. Green chilly: 2-3(chopped)

Steps to prepare Kerala erachi puttu


Steps to prepare meat masala

Step 1: Clean the chicken with water and cook it in a pressure cooker for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions and stir it well until it turns to golden brown colour.

Step 3: Add chopped tomato, green chilly, garam masala, pepper powder, coriander leaves, salt and stir well. Keep this mix aside.

Steps to prepare puttu

Step 1: Add salt to rice flour/ puttu powder and mix it by pouring little water into it. The puttu mix should not be so watery. It should be just wet. Too much of water makes the puttu to be hard.

Step 2: Add little grated coconut into the puttu mix and keep it aside for few minutes.
