How to prepare Kadai Chicken Curry?


Kadai chicken curry is a famous non vegetarian recipe in Kerala. It is a tasty and spicy dish you have never ever tasted. Do you want to prepare kadai chicken curry in your home? Here I have given some simple steps to prepare Kadai Chicken Curry.

Kadai means a big pan made of iron used for frying pappadam, fish, etc. Kadai chicken curry is a semi solid chicken curry. Its taste is so good and it is very easy to prepare. It has a pleasant smell and nice colour. The Kadai chicken curry has more masala in it. The masala used in kadai chicken are handmade and no packing products are used so it has natural taste and smell. The Kadai chicken curry consumes very less time for preparation and it takes very less ingredients. Read the following steps to prepare Kadai chicken curry

Ingredients required for Kadai chicken curry


1. Chicken: 1 kg
2. Onion: 3
3. Tomato : 3
4. Green Chilly : 10
5. Ginger: 1 (piece)
6. Garlic: 10 (pieces)
7. Coriander powder: 1 tsp
8. Chilly powder: 1 tsp
9. Turmeric powder: ½ tsp
10. Salt: (as required)
11. Oil: (as required)
12. Coriander leaves: few leaves(chopped)
13. Pepper powder: 2 tsp
14. Mustard: 1 tsp
15. Curry leaves: 10 leaves

Methods to prepare Kadai chicken curry


Step 1: Clean chicken pieces well in water with little turmeric powder.

Step 2: Chop onion, tomato, green chilly, ginger and garlic and keep it aside.

Step 3: pour oil in a pan.

Step 4: Crack mustard seeds, add curry leaves and stir it well. Do not allow the leaves to turn brown.

Step 5: Grind ginger and garlic to make fine paste.

Step 6: Add chopped onion, tomato, ginger garlic paste, green chilly and stir well.

Step 7: Add coriander powder, chilly powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder and salt and stir it well.

Step 8: Add some water and close the lid for few minutes until the gravy become thick.

Step 9: Add the cleaned chicken into the kadai and stir it well.

Step 10: Cook the chicken for 10-20 minutes with some amount of water until it become thick.

Step 11: Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it with rice, appam, chappathi, etc.

Extra tip: You may also add extract from coconut milk to make the Kadai chicken curry to be thick.
