IntroductionRing of pears is a sweet dish which is very famous and attractive for people in Kerala. It is rich in proteins and vitamins. This pudding is perfect to have during evening or after the meals. Apricot or peaches can be used if pears are not available. If needed, you can use chocolate sponge cake to make a chocolate flavored ring of pears.
1) Sponge cake or plane cake
2) Milk – 400 ml
3) Butter – 25 gm
4) Egg – 2 with one egg yellow
5) Powdered sugar – 25 gm
6) Sliced lemon peel – 1 teaspoon
7) Tined pears (cut into two pieces) – 425 gm
8) Butter – for smoothing
9) Nuts or badam if needed
How to prepareFirst slice the sponge cake to finger like long pieces and also heat the oven at 150˚C before starting to cook. Now rub some butter in a round mould and put the sliced sponge cake into it and set it well. Mix some butter into the milk and boil it well so that the butter melts completely. Also beat the yellow part of egg in a bowl and add sugar, lemon peel and prepared milk (having mild temperature) to mix it properly. Now pour this solution onto the sponge cake. Add some hot water to it and bake it for one hour. Make sure that there is some water content left. Boil the pears syrup prepared from the pieces. When pudding gets set, transfer it to a plate carefully. Now pour the syrup onto it and add nuts if need. Ring of pears is ready to serve.
