Velikkakathu Sankaran Achuthanandan is a rare politician. He is popularly known as 'Comrade VS' or simply VS. He is a person from low caste. But with his effort and determination, now he became the Chief Minister of Kerala State. He is one among the billion with a humanitarian heart. He has been fighting for the common people and that makes him the man of the masses. He has been resolute and clean all the time. He is such a person with no corruption issues. Sometimes it is nice to say that he is the best Opposition Leader in Kerala politics.

In his early life, he faced many hurdles. He lost his parents very early in the life. This led to the end of his education. He began his political life through trade union activities and joined State Congress in 1938. He became a member of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in 1940. He went under ground for more than 4 and half years of his life. His devotion and willingness to help the needy can be seen from his activities. Even at the age of 83, we saw him with a useful energy fighting against violence to common man. During Sino-India war time, he was demoted in the party. The reason behind this demotion was his blood donation to the soldiers. But all these made him the hope of the mass.
But as a Chief Minister, he failed to write good stories. Whenever he tried for the best, he was haunted.There has been issues with him and Pinarayi Vijayan.He was was criticized for almost all the wrong issues of the party. Pinarayi even pointed out that VS is responsible for the flop of the party in the recent elections. But still he is the real comrade, the leader of the common man,the one and only VS.
