'Many Species. One Planet. One Future'



One more Environment Day is also over on this June 5. It too was same as the other old Environment Day.There were tree plantation compaignings, the Principals made it clear to the students about the importance of the earth green and most of all and as usual, much of the students were absent on that day. Everybody know that we are getting close to hell. Temperature has been increasing throughout the year, climatic changes are affecting the nature, lot of electronics and plastic wastes are bumped in the sea and the land itself. Think of the old golden days, in the lap of nature,how really beautiful were that days.Now the conditions have changed; the earth is pretty fragile.So what we need to have is a drastic change.


How to Change the Existing Scenario;

The existing scenario about environment is very very worse. We are facing the real problem. When the politicians,the national leaders and the people are trying their best to foot their feet strong and criticizing one other, everybody forget the earth.
Common man thinkth that this is not his problem and he can't make any difference. This is the most disappointing thing about the conservation of the environment. Everybody can contribute for natural conservation and development. We have to change our thoughts about the conservation policies and features. We too can contribute and we should contribute-this should be the thought of the common man.
The policies and programmes should start from the teens and the children. They are the future and future is for them. So they should understand the problems and solutions at the best. Then only the future works could reach at the completeness.
Think of the last Environment Day,ie.5th June 2009. There were many conventions conducted by different organizations including the government bodies. All the events had tree plantation as the main programme. Did you ever been there? If you go there now, you can see only the shrinked small trees. Because there was none to protect them. This is the condition. We need to change it at least now before the end.


What we can do;
We can contribute ourselves for the conservation of the environment. The first and the foremost thing is the understanding of our role. There are various ways we too can make a difference.The following are the methods that everybody can adopt. They are;

1. Recycle and Reuse
Of course, you may not be having enough money to recycle the materilas used once by you. But there is another option; you can sell them to some organisations which recycle materials, instead of throwing them. There are many people coming to houses in search of these waste items like chepals, bottles, books, clothes etc. Give all these waste items. You can provide the used clothes to somebody who is in need of it.You need to collect all these items when their uses are over instead of throeing out.
Reusing is simple to follow. You can reuse almost anything if you are not throwing them out. When you are going for shopping, keep a bag with yourself. It will help you to reduce the cost and on the other hand reduce the amount of unwanted materials in the home. Another method is by buying second hand products.

2. Energy conservation
There are many issues by which you can conserve energy. The most important thing is switching of fans and lights after the use. Though it is simple to read, it is difficult to follow. Avoid using these electrical items in unnecessary occasions. Using of CLF lamps is another better method. It will cut down your electricity bills and save also power. Microwave utensils for cooking is another better option. Nowadays, solar lamps and devices are widely used. Switch to solar devices like lamps, calculators etc.

3. Reducing wastes.
The garbage and household wastes are increasing everyday. There are many methods to reduce these wastes to a bare minimum. One important method is that switch to online. Why are you buying daily newspapers when they are available in online? Similarly you can adopt this policy in many areas including musics, films, banking facilities etc.Don't go for costly packing of the gifts and other things. After all, they are to be opened.

4. Use organic and avoid plastics.
We all know that plastic is hazardous. Then why still we are using it? Avoid the plastics as far as possible. Use organic materials. You can use organic fertilizers for agriculture. There are many notebooks available in the nature that are made not from cutting the trees. Use of organic food items is appreciable. You can make a compost tank in your own itself where you can put the organic household wastes. This will provide you with rich organic waste and is a healthy method to get rid off organic wastes from the household.

5.Use proper electronics device;
There are many electronic assistance available to you. Many are simple to follow. Switch to electronic billing, use electronic medias for educational purposes etc. If possible apply green electronics in your life too. Electronics devices can be used in many forms in and around you. Look at the reservation systems, banking, communication etc. Electronic media plays and important role there. So switch to it.

6.Proper use of fuel
According to the latest reports, it is feared that the fuel resources will be empties within the next 20 years. This focus into the importance of proper use of fuel. Use public vehicles for most of the travels. Avoid long journeys for conferences and meeting by switching it into video conferences. Usage of electrical vehicles is another acceptable method. Vehicles which run on natural gases as in Delhi are also welcome as they avoid pollution.

7.Last but not the least;
Do something by your own. There are many leisure time available in everyone's life. Do something like planting small trees in your garden, cleaning the household and all. Don't forget to tell others how important is the environmental issue. Make them aware of it's impact in the future and tell them the methods to follow. Try not to support the programmes like deforestation, throwing of wastes to public areas
