Waterways of kerala is explained here , a water way trip from kollam to alleppey

Many years ago, our former generation often used water transport motor boats to travel from kollam to alleppey. it was cheap travel,sufficient luggage could be carried.Blowing cool wind and it is an overnight travel so that early morning you reach the destination.This service has now been restored. It starts from punnamada lake, through pampa river to kayamkulam lake,over to ashtamudi lake.

Adventure travel lover will always enjoy such a trip if dinner and coffee is served in the boat. The service is operated by State water transport corporation.

KSRTC super fast takes 2 and a half hours for this trip through road travel.although water distance is shorter, it takes 8 hours.It was PJ Abdul kalam's dream to utilize the potential of waterways as a means to reduce city traffic congestion.
