Corporation Bank, was nationalized in 1980. It was in the front for adopting and evolving to the financial sector reforms. In 1997, it entered the capital market and was the second bank in the country to enter the market. Corporation Bank, a nationalized bank, has a good branch network in Kerala.
Recently the Bank had initiated efforts to take the technology to rural masses through low cost branch-less banking – Business Correspondent model.
Like other banks, each depositor in the bank is insured upto a maximum of Rs.1,00,000 (Rupees One Lakh) for both principal and interest amount held by him in the same right and same capacity as on the date of liquidation/cancellation of bank's license or the date on which the scheme of amalgamation/merger/reconstruction comes into force. Premium on deposits is paid by the Bank and NOT passed on to the depositors
