How to choose a homestay in Kerala?

Kerala homestays are good and comfortable homes but you cannot expect 5 star accommodation or amenties there. They are different at many levels of service and you will get a rich experience with a much more comfort and homeliness than a 5 star accommodation.
Homestays in Kerala are classified into three grades, Diamond house, Gold house and Silver house based on a set of well defined criteria by the state government tourism department. These classifications are applicable only for the operational homestays and should get renewed once in every two years. Another condition for availing these classifications are that the owners of the homestays should be living there along with their family.
