Kundala is a beautiful lake set amidst the beautiful hills and valleys where you find cherry blossoms twice a year and Neela Kurinji flowers once in twelve years.

About The tourist Destination Kundala lake in Munnar


Kundala is a beautiful place, which is located at about 20 kiometers from the well known tourist destination Munnar of Kerala, while you travel towards Top Station.
Kundala is located at a height of 1700 meters above sea level and is a well known place for the cherry blossoms which appear about twice a year. You can also see Neela Kurinji flowers which bloom once in twelve years are also seen in the hills and valleys around the lake Kundala.

Places to visit near Kundala lake in Munnar


There is a major attraction in the Arch dam, the first ever arch dam in Asia, in Kundala. If you are in Kundala you cannot keep away from boating in the lake. It is a must and you will enjoy boating in the lake , it is just a wonderful experience by itself. You can find Pedal boats, Kashmiri Shikara Boats and row boats n that are available on hire for you to try your hand at.
There is a Golf course located in the area which belongs to Tata Tea Limited.
Aruvikkad waterfalls is also located near the lake Kundala.
The Sethu Parvathi dam was built in 1946 which should be seen to believe. The beautiful and spectacular dam is a part of the Pallivasal hydro electric project.

How to Reach Kundala Lake, Munnar


If you are travelling by air, Kochi is the nearest airport which is about 130 kilometers away from Munnar. Kochi international airport is connected to many cities in
India and abroad as well. You can get private cabs and state transport buses to reach Munnar.
If you are travelling by rail, Aluva / Alwaye is the nearest railway station as most of the trains stop here. You can also get down at Ernakulam station and then take cabs and buses from there to reach Munnar.
If you plan to Travel by road, Munnar is easily accessible from Tamilnadu as well as Kerala. You can get state transport buses from Kerala nad Tamilnadu plying regularly to and from Munnar. Coimbatore and Madurai are just 6 hours away from Munnar.

You can stay at Munnar and make Kundala lake visit a day trip from there. You can find many hotels and resorts as well as homestays there, from which you can select one.
