Kerla is famous for its back waters and house boats. These house boats are locally known by kettuvallom.in early time it is used for the transportation of goods from one place to other especialy towards the interior.allapuzha,kollam,kuttanad are the prominent tourist attraction.at these destinations house boats are available on hire and its cost is depends on its available facilities.
tourism department has introduced rating for house boats last year based on facilities offered as 'golden star',silver star'etc .now a das allapuzha has emerged as hub of house boat industry.
