There are many different tourist spots in Pathanamthitta.The main tourist spots are Aranmula,Pandalam,Perunthenaruvi,Cherukolpuzha,Sabarimala,Kadamanthitta,
Manjanikara,Konni,Kozhenchery,Parumala,Niranam,Charalkunu,
Mulloor Smarakam,Kaviyoor,Malayalapuzha,Thiruvalla,Mannadi,Parumala,Maramon.


Aranmula

Aranmula is a small town near Pathanamthitta which is famous for its boat races and metal mirrors(Aranmula kannadi ).It is the venue of the famous Aranmula Vallamkali .Aranmula Parthasarthy temple is one the major attractions here.It lies on th left bank of River Pampa.The sacred jewels of Sabarimala Ayyapan are taken from here each year as Grand procession
Vallasadhya at Aranmula Pardhasaradhi Temple is held during Onam Seasons Before the Vallamkalis.
The metal mirrors of Aranmula are famous all over the world,Aranmula Kannadi.It is a special piece of art whic is only madeby a combination of metal alloys.it is one of Unique creations.
The easiest ways to get here are Thiruvanthapuram Airport about 95 kilometers ,Chennganur Railway station about 10 Kilometers and Thiruvalla railway station 16 kilometers and there are lots of bus from all over Kerala.


Pandalam

It is the birth place of Lord Ayyapan.Pandalam was named after Pandalam royal family.The Thiruvabharanam (Sacred Ornaments) of Lord Ayyapan are taken from Pandalam to Sabarimala in procession three days before Makaravilaku.Palces to Visit her are Pandalam Valiyakoickal Palace,
Valiyakoikkal Sree Dharmasastha Temple.
The easiest way to reach here is is train to chengannur and bus from there,Chenganur railway station is about 10 kilometers from Pandalam.


Perunthenaruvey

Great Honey Stream .It is o n the banks of the Pamba River,is a natural fall down a rocky path into a ravine about 100 feet deep.It is about 10 Kilometers from Erumely and about 36 kilometers from Pathanamthitta.


Cherukolepuzha

It is known for convention of the Hindus conducted at Cherukole on the banks of the river Pamba in the month of February every year.Large number of hindus gather around here to listen to speeches given by prominent religious scholars and cultural personalities.


Sabarimala

It is located on the Western Ghat mountain ranges of Pathanamthitta district in Kerala.It is one of the famous and ancient Sastha temples in the country.It is situated about 3000 ft above sea level.The temple is open to all, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.The journey to the temple is to be taken through difficult paths in the forest as the vehicles can go only up to Pampa.It is a 5 km strech up the mountian,most of the areas the path is pebbles or concrete road.

Pilgrims goins to Sabarimala are to follow certain rules(Vratham) 41-day prior to the pilgrimage. This begins with wearing of a special Mala a garland made of Rudraksha or Tulasi bead. A pilgrim should not eat meat, fish, alcohol, tobacco.He should refrain from sex, using foul words, hair-cuts and shaving.

Pilgrims going to Sabarimala usually reach kottayam by Train and go via erumely and while some others reach Chengannur and take Bus from there.Kottayyam to Pamba via erumely is about 145 Km and from Chenganur to Pamba is 98 Km.



Manjanikara Church

It is located about 5 kms from Pathanamthitta.The mortal remains of the holy Patriarch of the Antioch, Mar Ignatius Elias III is preserved here in Manjanikara church.The important festivals held here in the month of February during which thousand of devotees come here.many devotes walk and come from different parts of kerala.


Parumala

It is about 10 Km from Thiruvalla.It is a small place on the banks of Pampa river.The Tomb of St. Gregorios (Parumala Thirumeni)rests here.The best time to visit is during the 1st and 2nd of November during the ormaperunal of Parumala Thirumeni.


Charalkunnu

It is a popular hillstation in Pathanamthitta.One can enjoy the Length of Pamba river from the top of hill.his is a famous retreat and convention centre. It is about 15 kms from Pathanamthitta.Thiruvalla railway station is the nearest 22 kms.


Mulloor Smarakam

It is the home of Muloor S.Padmanabha Panicker which is preserved as his monument by the Department of Culture of the State Government.It is about 12 km from Pathanamthitta.Mulloor was one of the veteran poets and an important social reformer of the previous century.


Maramon

Maramon Convention is held on the dry riverbeds of river PAmba.Every year conevention is held during the month of February.Huge flow of devotees is seen during this time ,people from different cast take place in this convention.


Kaviyoor

Kaviyoor is famous for its Mahadeva temple and cave temple.It is about 6 Kms from Thiruvala on the way to Kozhenchery.
Mahadeva temple in kaviyoor is one of the oldest Mahadeva temples in Kerala.The Hanuman shrine there is vvery famous in kerla,thousands of devotees come there regurarly from all parts of kerala.A procession with "Pushpa Ratham" is the main attraction during the festivals of Hanuman Jayanti.

The cave temple there is known as Thrikakudi temple.It has been made according to pallava architecture .The sculptures and painting are well preserved till now.This temple has a big Shivling inside and legends says that this temple was built by the Ghost of Lord Shiva.
