This movie kavalan is a remake of 2010 Dileep Nayan Thara Starrer "Body Guard" Malayalam Movie which was directed by Siddique, releasing for Pongal on 14th January, the Tamil version of body guard is directed by siddique himself. This movie is Ilaya Dalapathi Vijay's 51st movie after a series of Flops, Sura, and Vettaikaran. this movie is very important for the super star Vijay and as well as for the Heroin Asin. Vijay hasn't produced a hit for a period, while the others in the Industry like Surya and Vikram are Choosing Scripts Intelligently and are producing Regular Hits and this movie making the comeback of Asin into the Tamil Industries after a while

In the original Malayalam Movie Body guard the lead characters were done by Nayanthara, Dillep, Mitra Kurian and Thyagarajan, in the Tamil version the characters are played by Asin, Vijay, Mitra Kurian and Raj Kiran, the Malayalam version the character done by Nayanthara was actually planned for Asin, she couldn't accept the project because of her busy schedules in the Bollywood Movies.
The film is about a young man who is so fascinate about adventures, he want to have an adventures life. He joins the Dreaded Liquor mogul, who is a hero for the character played by Vijay. He joins the dreaded man as Body Guard to His beautiful daughter, She is not happy with the new body guard as he is a threat t her privacy, so she plans to teach him lesson, she stars to make him anonymous calls this finally results in a bond love between them, but lead lady couldn't reveal her identity to him out of the fear for her father, the movie goes through series comic scenes due to this anonymity and the heroes' eagerness to see his lady love. By the second half of the movie it takes a twist and a more trilling climax scene follows it.

The Controversy is still not settled among the Actor and Tamil Associations; she will be expecting to resolve the issue and to regain her status among the Tamil Audients

To add salt to the wounds, the producer of the Malayalam version Jony Sgariga who had obtained the rights of the remake in all other languages approached the Ndigar Sangam, when came to know about Siddique's remake movie Kavalan. Tami nadu high court has permitted the release of the movie on certain conditions, that the director and the produces has to furnish a security amount of 1.88 crore.
