Minimum Wage Limit - UAE - Good news to Malayalee Pravasees


Ministry of Labour in UAE has announced a specific criteria for the implementation of the Minimum Wage Limit. On implementation of this labour law, many a Keralites in UAE will be benefited.

The Labour Ministry in UAE is taking steps to ensure strict implementation of the WPS (Wage Protection System) which in turn will be beneficial to expatriates there. As a part of the system, the Labour Ministry on saturday announced a minimum wage limit for different categories of skilled and unskilled workers. This will depend on their qualifications etc. As per the new labour law, a Graduate should earn minimum DH 12,000 a month as they would be termed as Skilled worker under Level I. A minimum wage of DH 7,000 should be the earning of a skilled worker with Diploma as they fall under level II. Workers who have passed High School needs to be paid DH 5,000 as minimum monthly wage.

The Labour ministry has decided to enforce strictly the Labour Laws particularly connected to the WPS. The Ministry has called upon the Companies in UAE to fall in line and strictly implement the Minimum wage limit as per the amended classifications.

This is also part of emiratisation process in UAE. The New amendments in Labour Laws also stipulates that minimum 15% of the staff strength should be from the national only. Ministry has classified the Companies as per the strength of the Staff.

The Keralites working in UAE may be benefited once the Minimum Wage Limit is strictly implemented in UAE.
