Retirement age enhanced in UAE to 65

Expatriates in UAE will be at an advantage on 5 years extended service. As per the revised labour law in UAE, the retirement age of Expatriates is revised from 60 to 65.

The Ministry of Labour in UAE has announced that the expatriates in UAE can gt an additional 5 years of service as their retirement age is extended from 60 to 65. The revised Labour laws stipulates that the Expatriates who otherwise to retire at 60 can, subject to their concurrence, continue in service for another 5 years. As a part of widespread changes in Labour laws, the UAE ministry has also announced that expatriates can get visas upto the age of 65.

The Ministry of Labour in UAE has also declared that the validity of labour cards is limited to TWO years as against THREE years at present. This will be effective from January 1, 2011.

This is really helpful to expatriates in UAE - majority of whom are our Malayalaee brethren. They will have the freedom to switch jobs without the No Objection Certificate from the Employer. Previously, the NOC was a must and if refused, the expatriates were subjected to Six months ban and they had to leave the country.

The amended Labour law practically helps UAE to retain the experienced workers apart from the extended period of service to the expatriates. Moreover, the exploitation of workers by bad employers is also eliminated to certain extent with the new revised Labour laws.
