The two water falls at Athirappally and Vazhachal are an extremely popular tourist attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists. The waterfalls are located in the vicinity of Thrissur, slightly east of Chalakudy. The two water falls are separated by about 10 kms. It is about 76 kms north off Kochi, at the entrance to Sholayar ranges. Athirappally Falls is about 78 feet high and located in the forest area. Combined with the greenery, it infuses freshness into any tired soul. The Athirapally Falls join the Chalakkudy River after falling from a height of 78 feet. This cascading water falls, the sweet murmuring sounds of which is audible to the travelers from far away, is a part of the Chalakudy River. This region is home to wild elephants and other wild animals and birds. The place is also known as Indian Niagara. This locale is a classic case, where Mother Nature has assembled all her beauty and charm into a captivating spectacle.
The verdant area with a serene atmosphere and lush forests rich in flora and fauna makes this place the favorite of tourists.
